Every fare carries two boxes: one under the seat, one above it. Each bag on this shelf has been run through both, in centimetres, before it earned a place. Build a list on this page and it finishes at Amazon.com.au — the card fields belong to them, not to us.

A fare buys one box, and sometimes two.

Three fare shapes

The ticket decides how much cabin you may carry before anyone looks at your bag. Read it once and the shelf becomes obvious.

Under the seat

The free box. Usually 40 × 30 × 20 on the lean fares, or 45 × 36 × 20 where the airline is kinder. It has to slide fully beneath the seat ahead of you.

The overhead locker

The bought box: around 55 to 56 cm long and 36 to 40 wide, with a weight ceiling that sits between 7 and 10 kg depending on the airline.

The fare

Basic fares frequently bring only the under-seat box. One class up and the locker opens. The same airline, the same flight, a different amount of cabin.

Twelve bags, each already measured.

12 bags · 9 under-seat · 3 locker

Nine ride under the seat, three take the locker. The stamp on every card is the count of airlines whose frame the bag clears.

Three moves, and the list is Amazon’s.

1

Put a bag on the list

The list lives in this browser. Nothing is sent anywhere and no account is created.

2

Open the list

Quantities can be changed line by line, or a line removed, until it reads the way you want.

3

Pay on Amazon

The list becomes an Amazon.com.au cart in one click. Card details are typed there, never here.

What travellers ask before packing.

Are these the airline’s exact limits?

They are the figures the airlines publish on their own baggage pages, copied in October 2026. A fare can carry its own rules on top, so the booking remains the final word.

What does “clears 15 of 18” mean?

The bag fits the frame of that slot on fifteen of the eighteen carriers in the table. Sides are compared largest to largest, so a bag only counts when every dimension fits.

Why do some rows show no under-seat box?

Several airlines allow a personal item without publishing a size for it. Rather than invent a number, the table leaves that cell empty and says so in the notes on the airline page.

Do I pay anything here?

No. Prices shown are the ones spotted on Amazon.com.au and may have moved since. The order, the delivery and the card details are all handled on Amazon after the list is sent over.

Where does the list actually live?

In this browser’s local storage. Clearing site data empties it, and it does not travel between devices or browsers.

Can a hard-shell case clear an under-seat frame?

Rarely. Under-seat boxes are shallow, and most hard cases start around 20 cm deep before wheels are counted. The bag shelf separates the two classes for that reason.
